Business Q&A: Dario’s Restaurant
The family-owned restaurant has been serving up Italian food for 40 years.

Whether you’re on a first date or celebrating a special occasion, Dario’s Restaurant on North Village Avenue offers upscale Northern Italian cuisine that will make your evening memorable. This week, we spoke with Paul Viscovich, who owns the restaurant along with his parents and brother.
Tell us how the restaurant got its start.
We’ve been in Rockville Centre for more than 14 years now, but my family has been in the restaurant business for 40 years. My parents have been doing this since they came to New York from Italy in the 1960s. They’re sitting at home with a glass of wine right now.

What makes RVC an ideal location for Dario’s?
Our original location was in West Hempstead and when we were there we had a lot of regular customers who lived in Rockville Centre, so about 14 years ago we decided to make the move to Rockville Centre. This is a very family-friendly town and the people who live here are incredible. I actually moved here myself about a year ago.

What are some of your most popular menu selections?
Our most popular pasta dish is the Pasta Fuzzi with veal sauce. Another very popular item is our signature veal chop, which is a veal Milanese with cheese melted on top. The menu is a la carte and everything is cooked to order. We offer fresh fish every day, so the fish menu changes daily depending on the market. We’re mainly a fine-dining restaurant, but we do have a small bar where customers can sit and enjoy drinks while they wait for their table.
Do you have a lot of regular customers from the neighborhood?
I have a very loyal following of customers who are some of the most incredible people and I'm so very grateful for them. I have also had the same wait staff working for me for 12 years now. My brother is the chef and he’s had the same kitchen staff for years, too.
What do you hope customers take away from their experience at Dario’s?
When you go out to eat, you’re supposed to enjoy yourself and have a few laughs. This is a time to have fun with family and friends. It should be a relaxing experience and that is what we try to provide for our customers.
