Cop Impostor Pulls Over Vehicle, Steals Driver's Wallet in Nassau County: Police

It happened Monday afternoon. Police have released a sketch of the suspect.

A man posing as a police officer pulled over a driver and stole his wallet in Woodmere Monday afternoon, police said.

According to Nassau Police, a 25-year-old man was driving north on Broadway when he observed a black Jeep behind him turn on red lights at about 3:45 p.m.

The driver pulled over and was approached by the driver of the Jeep, who stated that he was a police officer, police said.

The Jeep driver removed the victim from his car and had him remove his belongings and place them on the trunk, police said.

The Jeep driver took the victim’s wallet, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash, and had the victim return to his car.

As the victim was entering his vehicle, he saw the Jeep make a U-turn and flee southbound on Broadway.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, in his 30s and about 6 feet tall.
