ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — The Rockville Centre Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending July 20. All charges are merely accusations.

Larceny

  • On July 18 at 9:31 p.m., an employee of a Sunrise Highway business reported that money was stolen from her pocketbook while she was at work.

  • On July 15 at 4:28 p.m., a driver reported his car was struck by a vehicle that left the scene while it was parked in a lot on Merrick Road.

Fire

  • On July 14 at 8:29 p.m., police and fire units responded to a car fire on N. Centre Avenue.

  • On July 15 at 10:07 p.m., a man from Ithaca, New York, reported he was robbed at knifepoint by an acquaintance on Nassau Street near the Avalon Bay apartments. He reported $38,000 worth of jewelry was stolen. The man also reported the acquaintance caused damage to his car and left the scene. The man was treated at Mercy Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. The Nassau County Police Department is investigating.
  • On July 17 at 5:20 p.m., a Sayville resident reported that an unknown woman attempted to withdraw money from her account at a Merrick Road bank.

Arrests

  • On July 15 at 1:05 p.m., Eddie Murdock, 62, of South Farmingdale, was arrested and charged with second- and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, possession of burglar's tools and traffic infractions after police say he was pulled over while driving a stolen truck on N. Long Beach Road.
  • On July 16 at 12:24 p.m., Samuel J. Champagne, 35, of Freeport, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and a traffic infraction after police say he was seen driving on Sunrise Highway.
