New TMZ Doc Claims 'Many More' Victims May Be Tied To Heuermann
The documentary is streaming on Hulu.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A new TMZ documentary alleges the Gilgo Beach murders were "mishandled" for more than a decade before Massapequa Park resident Rex Heuermann was arrested last month and charged in the killings of three sex workers.
The TMZ documentary, "TMZ Investigates: Gilgo Beach Serial Murders: Missed Warning Signs," is streaming on Hulu. In it, there are claims that Heuermann may be responsible for "many more" deaths.
The segment also examines the role of former police chief James Burke, who was arrested Tuesday for and charged with offering a sex act during a sting involving a male Suffolk County Parks ranger, officials said. The documentary claims Burke went to "great lengths to derail the investigation, in no small part because he himself was hiring prostitutes and didn't want a spotlight put on him," TMZ said.

The documentary, which features interviews with members of the police and psychologists, lays the groundwork for the investigation delays, and intimates that more victims could have died because of the Suffolk police department's slowness in making an arrest.
It also sheds light on existing evidence that could have led to Heuermann's arrest at an earlier date, LongIsland.com reports.
