A Long Beach woman was arrested after police say she hit multiple cars while driving drunk, and her passenger leaped from the car for fear of her safety.

According to police, Madeline Banegas, 49, of East State Street, was driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue with a 24-year-old woman in the passenger seat. As she was driving at 5:25 a.m. on Sunday, police say Banegas struck multiple parked cars on Cherrywood Drive and Milburn Avenue in Baldwin.

The passenger, fearing for her safety, jumped from the car and called police. Police say that officers found Banegas in front of a home on Northern Boulevard and pulled her over. She was then arrested without incident.
