Wild Ginger Serves Southeastern Asian Cuisine

Asian fusion restaurant chain prides itself on traditional, distinct flavors and plate presentation.

Since Wild Ginger opened its doors on Sunrise Highway last December, the extensive menu, reasonable prices and trendy interior have drawn a consistent crowd of diners to the Asian fusion restaurant, its owners said.

As part of a chain of more than 12 restaurants on the East Coast, including locations in Connecticut, upstate New York, Long Island and Manhattan, Wild Ginger has become a recognizable name, said Branson Lee, general manager of the Rockville Centre location.

"Wild Ginger was a huge success in Great Neck, which is very close to here and in Huntington," Lee said. "People like the Rockville Centre location because it is central to a lot of things in the neighborhood and it's not too far from the city."

Lee explained that Wild Ginger's food has a unique and authentic taste due to the culinary talents of its chefs. "The food here is different than at other Asian fusion restaurants because one of our chefs is from Malaysia, and she prepares a lot of the sauces," he said.

Sushi is prepared fresh at the restaurant's sushi bar and a vegetarian menu is also offered to accommodate all dietary needs. Most entrées on the menu are under $20, including chicken, pork and tofu dishes in sauces like string bean garlic and wok glazed ginger. Wild Ginger's Rockville Centre location also offers take-out to local residents without a delivery charge.

Joyce Li, the restaurant's co-manager, said that the presentation of the dishes is just as important as the taste. "We give customers a gorgeous presentation of our food at a very reasonable price," she explained. "Not only do we use all fresh ingredients that are delivered the same day, but we also want be creative with our food."

The restaurant's décor is casual yet elegant, and Wild Ginger's seating ranges from large tables to intimate booths. For those looking to have a cocktail before or after a meal, the restaurant also has a spacious bar.

"Location is not the main factor of a successful restaurant, Lee said. "Luckily our business has done very well from the first day it opened because good value makes a lot of difference."
