• Rocky Point Students Earn SCMEA Scholarships (messengerpapers.com) — Two Rocky Point Middle School musicians just made local history by becoming the first Rocky Point students ever to earn Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association summer study scholarships. Seventh graders Henry Fiore and Corrine Gabriel were honored at the March 15 SCMEA All-County concert, where they also performed, and district music leaders say the awards will help fuel their continued musical growth.
   

• Hummingbirds are back in NY. See where they've been spotted (democratandchronicle.com) — Rocky Point has already logged one of Long Island’s first ruby-throated hummingbird sightings this spring, with a bird reported there on April 11. Experts say these tiny migrants are now spreading across New York, and residents can attract them by planting red, tubular flowers, offering clean water, and putting out pesticide-free feeders with homemade nectar.
