• Rome mayor demands demolition of former Staley Elementary School (spectrumlocalnews.com) — Rome Mayor Jeffrey Lanigan is pushing for the immediate demolition of the long-vacant former Staley Elementary School after yet another fire, calling it a major public nuisance and safety risk. The Rome City School District says a FEMA demolition grant was denied but it is pursuing other funding while continuing to secure and monitor the property.
