• Rome woman arrested after threatening to blow up apartment (cnyhomepage.com) — Police say a Rome woman was taken into custody after allegedly threatening to ignite gas in her North Washington Street apartment, prompting an emergency response Sunday morning. She was evaluated at Rome Health, then charged with attempted arson and taken to Oneida County Jail. Mental health resources are highlighted for anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts.

• Mother duck reunited with ducklings, thanks to Rome firefighters (uticaod.com) — Rome firefighters and police gave a Mother’s Day assist to a frantic duck, rescuing more than a dozen ducklings from a storm drain and reuniting them with their mom. Engine Company #2 carefully lifted each duckling to safety using a cardboard box. Fire Chief Michael Reilly says the department is always glad to help animals in distress when they can.
