• Food Bazaar Buys 14 Western Beef Supermarkets Across New York (progressivegrocer.com) — Roosevelt shoppers will soon see their local Western Beef supermarket converted into a Food Bazaar as part of a 14-store acquisition across New York. The change will bring expanded deli, seafood, butcher, and bakery counters, with store revamps already underway and transitions expected through October 28. Residents can expect a different shopping experience but no announced sale price yet.
   

• Former Garden City math teacher donates to alma mater, Adelphi University, to support first-generation college students (longislandpress.com) — Roosevelt gets a brief but meaningful nod in the story of retired teacher Judith Ammerman, who once taught in the community before a long career in Garden City. She has donated $500,000 to Adelphi University to endow a scholarship for first-generation college students, building on an earlier $1.5 million planned gift.
