Community Update

A free presentation entitled, “Cook and Bake – Ready to Use
a Commercial Kitchen,” will be given today from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at SCORE
Westchester, located at 120 Bloomingdale Road in White Plains. The presentation
will be lead by commercial kitchen owner Jaine Zaidman Goldentaier. Goldentaier
will discuss a range of topics, including how to start a food business, how to
start a catering business, things you need to know before working in a
commercial kitchen, and why churche kitchens are a surprisingly good place to

There will be morning showers and scattered thunderstorms
throughout the day today in Rye. 76 degrees will be today’s high, and the low
will be a cool 68 degrees.

The Rye Public Library is offering three sessions today of the
Wiggle, Giggle Time, which provides music and movement for children ages 18
months to 4 years. The twenty minute sessions will commence at 9:30 a.m., 10:15
a.m., and 11:00 a.m. “Ellen Watermelon” Kaplan and “Dawny Dew” Hasz will lead
the event that will be filled with puppets, felt board activities, nursery
rhymes and fun songs. Space is limited.

At 9:15 p.m. tonight, head over to Rye Playland for a free
fireworks show.

Registration for the Rye YMCA’s fall classes are officially
opened today. The fall program guide is filled with dozens of programs for
children, teens and adults, and is available on www.ryeymca.org.
Registration for non-members begins on August 14th. Youth programs
include swim school, arts, dance and sports. For adults there will be classes
such as walking clubs, running clubs, healthy lifestyle programs and more. To
