Bruce Museum hosts "Free for Rye" Day on December 4

The Bruce Museum is FREE for all Rye residents and Rye YMCA Members on Sunday, December 4!

Now is your chance to see the Bruce Museum, 1 Museum Drive, Greenwich, CT at no charge!

The Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT, is reaching across the state line to offer free admission for all Rye residents and Rye YMCA members on Sunday, December 4, 2016. For this first-ever “Free for Rye Day,” the Bruce will provide free entry for anyone presenting proof of Rye residence, Rye YMCA membership at the museum’s admission desk.

The Bruce Museum is a popular cultural destination close to I-95 exit 3 in downtown Greenwich, Connecticut, highlighting art, science and natural history in more than a dozen changing exhibitions annually and offering a robust schedule of educational programs.

“Free for Rye” Day includes all planned activities for the day, which includes Dinosaur Discovery Day. The afternoon features dinosaur-inspired crafts from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, as well as a chance to meet Stamford Museum and Nature Center’s modern day animals descended from exotic Triassic creatures and watch a balloon artist make dinosaur-inspired creations. At 2:00 pm, storyteller Diane Edgecomb performs "Digging Dinosaurs." All activities are on a first-come, first-serve basis, with limited seating.

“Free for Rye” Day also includes a 10% discount in the Museum Store – just in time for holiday shopping. Those who want to continue the experience and share it with a friend can take advantage of the museum’s special 2-for-1 membership gift promotion for the holidays and join while they give a gift membership to someone else .

“I am a Rye resident and I want all my neighbors to know what a wonderful, exciting cultural resource this is just down the road,” says Sandra van Boetzelaer, Director of Marketing and Communications at the Bruce. “This gem of a museum is full of amazing art and science offerings that rival what you can find in New York. It’s just on a scale that is more manageable, especially for families. Our whole family loves it!”

The museum plans to expand the free-day offering to additional communities in the future.

The Bruce Museum is located at One Museum Drive in Greenwich, Connecticut and open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, and free for members and children less than five years. Individual admission is free to all on Tuesday. Free on-site parking is available and the Museum is accessible to individuals with disabilities.
