RYE, NY — Police are hoping someone recognizes the man they say tried to access a Rye home early this morning.

Early Wednesday morning, shortly after 2 a.m. the male attempted to open the rear door of a house on Horton Street. The Detective Division canvassed the area and retrieved video of the incident, as well as other videos of the same man attempting to enter several parked vehicles in the neighborhood, according to officials.

In an alert to residents, police said the disturbing incident marks an escalation from the car larcenies that have spiked over the last two years. Officials said the attempt to access a home should serve as a reminder that it is extremely important that homeowners make a conscious effort to lock up their property, whether it is their residence or their vehicles.
