Discover Indian Cinema comes to Stamford!
Arts, Entertainment, Independent Cinema, Bollywood, Indian Cinema

The India Cultural Center of Greenwich (ICC Greenwich, http://iccgreenwich.org) in partnership with the Avon Theatre in Stamford, CT will present a series of Indian films beginning May 11 with Kapoor & Sons, a Hindi comedy-drama about two estranged brothers who return to their hometown at their grandfather’s behest. The Discover India Cinema series was launched to address the lack of Indian cinema in a community with a growing Indian population and to introduce American audiences to critically acclaimed films that break Bollywood stereotypes.
Films are selected by an advisory panel which includes Tejaswini Ganti, Associate Professor of Anthropology and core faculty in the Program in Culture & Media at New York University and Meheli Sen, Assistant Professor in the Department of African, Middle Eastern, and South Asian Languages and Literature and the Cinema Studies Program at Rutgers University. Both Professors Ganti and Sen, experts on post-colonial commercial cinema in India, along with Meera Agarwal, a communications specialist and Indian cinema aficionado, will offer commentary and reviews throughout the series.
