Dodgers Crowned Intermediate Champs

Rye Little League Dodgers Win Intermediate Championship Over Athletics.

The Rye Little League Dodgers survived a two run scare from the Athletics to win the 2010 Intermediate Championship 4-2 Saturday.

In the game at Rye's Disbrow Park, Natalie Rodilosso scored the Athletics first run for a 2-1 score in the top of the fifth before the Dodgers' Billy Chabot tied it at 2-2.

The Dodgers prevailed in the bottom half of the inning to eventually win on runs scored from Thomas Hager and James Pagliatti.

Dodger Head Coach Jon Rogers commended his players' accomplishments throughout the season.

"I'm just very proud of these kids," said Rogers who anticipates his full roster will return next season.

"Good Lord willing they'll all be back next year," he said.

Athletics Assistant Coach Fran Rodilosso, filling in for regular Head Coach Greg Hale, said he was proud of his players' performance on the day despite settling for second place.

"They did great," he said. Rodilosso also said that the A's used a lot of pitchers and forced a tag pitch but just missed an opportunity to take control of the game.

"We just came up short," he said.

Dodger Pitcher Kenny Nixon struckout thirteen batters in four and two thirds of an inning pitched. Keyshawn had two strikeouts in one and a third inning.

Athletics Pitcher Sean Hager struckout seven batters in four innings. Jamie Clark then came into relieve Hager for one inning, striking out one batter.
