Donald Trump Wanted Playland, Says County Exec Astorino
The county-owned amusement park in Rye was going to be a residential development.

Republican Presidential candidate - and real estate mogul - Donald Trump once eyed the Rye Playland amusement park for a residential development, according to Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino.
The Journal News reports that The Donald also considered filming episodes of his former reality competition show, ”The Apprentice,” at the county-owned park.
Trump is certainly no stranger to Westchester. He owns a golf club in Briarcliff Manor - Trump National Golf Club - and park land he donated in Yorktown recently came under fire over signs with his name near the property.

His plans for Playland eventually fell through because there were obstacles to developing the amusement park into residences, said Astorino, who met with Trump about three years ago.
“I could just imagine the gates of Playland with a big ‘T’ on it, you know?” a chuckling Astorino told The Journal News. “Trumpland.”
