Family of Men Who Died From Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Set Up Fund to Raise Awareness

The family of two men who died of carbon monoxide poisoning have set up a fund to purchase CO detectors for Rye Brook residents.

Rye Brook, NY- On Monday November 23, 2015 two Port Chester men passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Carl Persson, 86, and Joey Pendrak, 51, died in their home after a car was accidentally left running in the attached garage of the home they shared.

Their family, the DiMiceli Family, has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds an awareness to prevent another tragedy. They wrote on their page:

“Grampa Gumper (Carl) was a loving person with a big heart. His family meant the world to him. His grandchildren and great grandchildren have lost a very special person. Cousin Joey was a fun-loving, young-at-heart person who loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. This tragedy didn’t have to happen. It has opened our eyes to how fragile life is and how senseless these deaths were. It could have been prevented with a simple CO detector.”

The GoFundMe fundraiser was set up to help purchase CO detectors for the elderly and anyone else who needs one in the towns of Rye Brook and Port Chester.
