Firefighters Battle Exploding Ammunition in Rye Brook House Fire

No injuries were reported in the early morning blaze Friday.

Firefighters battling an early morning on Edgewood Drive in Rye Brook Friday were forced to wait to enter a second floor bedroom because ammunition stored in the room was exploding.

No injuries were reported in the 6 a.m. fire, which started on the second floor, reports The Journal News. The exploding ammunition made popping sounds, which alerted firefighters to wait until it stopped.

“It was going off pretty good. It was cooking off,” Port Chester Fire Chief Ed Quinn told The Journal News. One occupant in the house at the time got out safely.
