Historic Letter Donated to Jay Heritage Center in Rye

RYE, NY — A letter written by John Jay in 1797 was donated to the Jay Heritage Center.
John Adler, who once lived in Rye, gave the letter, which was written when Jay was governor, the subject being the protection of New York harbor by increasing military presence on Governor’s Island, according to myrye.com.
