Life Begins When The Kids Leave Home
Rye Brook's Doral Arrowwood Center offers superior cultural events for empty nesters.

For over 4 years, Steve Schragis’ company Empty Nest Events has been transforming the lives of empty nester’s in various cities around the country including San Francisco and Philadelphia. The company offers significant cultural and educational events including fascinating lectures, theatre, concerts and films. Now Schragis has expanded his business to include empty-nesters in the town of Rye Brook.
“I am originally from Scarsdale in Westchester County, so I am very familiar with the demographics,” said Schragis. “Empty nester’s are a huge under-served population. There are so many events available to the demographic in Manhattan, but in Westchester not so much,” Schragis continued.
All throughout this summer, Schragis held an inaugural set of adult learning seminars at Rye Brook’s own world-renown . Home to Fortune 500 companies during the weekdays, the facility was looking something to attract residents to the facility on the weekend. Cue in Empty Nest Events.
“The Arrowwood facility is a gorgeous place with a quaint resort-like feel during the weekend. We were looking for a place to hold seminars and they were looking for people to fill the center. It’s a perfect match!” said Schragis.
Empty Nest Events has packed out each of their two previous events: "5 Great Films" and "What Makes Great Music Great" at the Arrowwood center totaling over 300 people.
"Our events are great, we bring in world-class professors who have really fascinating and interesting lives, that teach the seminars on film, art and music," said Schragis. "Many people attend, and then enjoy a wonderful Sunday brunch at the Arrowwood facility after," he continued.
Empty Nest's next event will be held on Sunday, September 4th from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The subject of the seminar will be "5 Great Paintings Every Art Lover Should See," taught by Columbia Professor, Tina Rivers. There is a fee of $98 to attend the adult learning series event. But, there is still time to register. For more information, call Steve Schargis at 1-800-300-3438 or visit emptynestevents.com
