Mamaroneck Village Police Rescue Rowers from Long Island Sound

Separate crew teams had to be pulled from Long Island Sound Wednesday after strong gusts of wind capsized their rowing shells, according to Mamaroneck Village Police.
A total of nearly 15 rowers were transported to area hospitals for precautions related to possible hypothermia Wednesday evening, reports The Journal News.
All are part of the rowing club RowAmerica Rye.

“We are relieved that Wednesday’s incident ended on a good note, and that none of the rowers were injured,” wrote RowAmerica Rye’s Marko Serafimovski in a Facebook post. “What happened is unfortunate.”
Ten females and five males were rescued in the separate incidents.
