New Superintendent Chosen for Blind Brook-Rye Schools

The district hired from within for its selection.

There’s a new superintendent for the Blind Brook-Rye Union Free School District.

Interim Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Ross was selected to take over the top spot by the board of education.

According to a press release posted on the district’s website, Ross has been serving as the interim superintendent for the past 10 months.

He was the assistant superintendent for finance and facilities for the district since 2001.

Ross earned his undergraduate degree at Lehman College and received his master’s at Baruch College and Mercy College in public administration and school business administration, respectively.

His doctorate is from the Fischler School of Education and Human Services at Nova Southeastern University and is in educational leadership/school business leadership.

The district said Ross has set a high standard as a motivational leader with a strong work ethic.

While there were many highly qualified candidates for the position, Ross proved himself most qualified to lead Blind Brook, the district said.
