The Osborn Names New Executives

The Osborn, based in Rye, is a continuum of care community for seniors, offering a wide range of programs including independent living.

Matthew Anderson, Senior Vice President of Health Care Services has been named the organization’s Chief Operating Officer, a new position, it was announced today by Mark Zwerger, Chief Executive Officer of The Osborn. Prior to becoming the Senior VP of Health Care Services, Mr. Anderson was the Administrator of The Osborn’s long- and short-term nursing facility, The Pavilion, for 15 years. In this new role, Mr. Anderson will oversee all of the day-to-day operations of The Osborn. In addition to The Osborn’s licensed health care facilities – The Pavilion, Independent Living, Assisted Living, and the H.O.P.E. Center for Memory Care—Matt will oversee support areas including dining, facilities, information technology and sales. The Osborn provides services to 435 seniors who live on its 56-acre campus in Rye. The Osborn also serves approximately 100 additional individuals in the community through outpatient rehabilitation and home care services.

Matt Anderson joined The Osborn in 1998, following several years with Wesley Healthcare Center in Saratoga Springs, serving as Business Manager and, subsequently, as Director of Business Development. A graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. degree in Health Administration, Mr. Anderson also holds an M.B.A. from SUNY Albany.

Mr. Anderson is a recognized leader within the world of senior care; in 2008, he was named a Leading Age Fellow by the senior living industry’s trade organization, Leading Age. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the state organization, Leading Age New York, where he recently spearheaded that group’s own Leadership Academy to promote future young “influentials” in the field. He is a member of Greenwich Hospital’s Community Advisory Committee. Additionally, he has also served as a long-time board member and coach for the Rye Little League. Mr. Anderson and his wife, Christine, live in Rye, New York, with their two sons.

Taking over the reins from Mr. Anderson is Christopher Ferreri, The Osborn’s new Vice President, Health Care Services. Chris will be overseeing The Osborn Pavilion, as well as the Assisted Living program, including the H.O.P.E. Center. Mr. Ferreri joins The Osborn from Jewish Home Lifecare’s Sarah Neuman Center in Mamaroneck, where he served as Administrator since 2013. Earlier in his career, Mr. Ferreri held a similar position with Parker Jewish Institute for HealthCare and Rehabilitation in New Hyde Park, New York. He began his professional life with NYU Medical Center, following graduation from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a B.S. degree in Business Management. Like Mr. Anderson, Mr. Ferreri is also a Leading Age Fellow. Mr. Ferreri resides in Melville, New York with his wife and two children.

“Having traveled similar career paths in our industry, I have watched Chris deftly lead senior care communities during a time of huge regulatory and financial change,” said Mr. Anderson. “I know that The Osborn Pavilion will benefit from his unique experience and insights, which will extend The Osborn’s legacy of extraordinary short- and long-term care and assisted living programs. I am looking forward to partnering with him as we move forward.”

According to Mr. Zwerger, “Our business has dramatically grown in size and complexity over my 26 years at the helm. We believe we need to continue to grow to remain a vital and viable care provider in the ‘post healthcare reform era.’” Mr. Zwerger will continue to oversee The Osborn’s finance, legal, marketing, human resources and home care operations. The Osborn employs nearly 700 people on its Rye campus and in the surrounding communities. He went on to say that “Matt and Chris are two of the best and brightest young leaders in our industry. One of their attributes is an extraordinary network of colleagues around the nation whose expertise they can draw upon at any time.”
