PLAYLAND: City of Rye vs. County - Round 2

SEQRA, SEQRA, SEQRA...("State Environment Quality Review Act")

Well. I have to admit that that big new "PLAYLAND" sign out front has really grown on me after the initial shock wore off and I've grown quite fond of it. I'm sad we're going to see it go. I hope the County gives the Park some money to replace the old one which had to come down due to deterioration, because we basically got this one for free thanks to the creativity and ingenuity of the Playland Staff. A LOT of people like to take pics of their kids posed in front of it.

But what's bigger than the sign is....Apparently the City of Rye has resurrected the legal action they were poised to proceed with over SEQRA issues back when SPI wanted to build their 95,000 sq. ft. indoor Field House in the Playland parking lot. And not just over the new sign...over the Pool issue and ALL the Capital Improvements projects slated to be done in order for Standard Amusements to come in and take on management of the Park. I'm pretty sure Mr. Gerrard threw in the kitchen sink too.

The last time we saw a throw-down like this it was the final nail in Sustainable Playland's coffin and the move that finally brought that to a grinding halt due to all the pending litigation they were facing.
