Update: Two Confirmed Dead in Fatal Vehicle Accident on I-95
Northbound lanes were temporarily closed Monday afternoon while the crash was being investigated.
Updated at 4:25 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015: New York State Police confirmed that two people died in an accident northbound on I-95 in Rye.
Below is the police statement concerning the crash:
On February 2, 2015, around 1:30 pm, State Police were investigating a two vehicle accident on I-95 northbound just north of Exit 22, when a second, uninvolved vehicle lost control on the roadway, striking the two vehicles in the first accident.
Two people are confirmed dead.
Names of the victims are not being released at this time pending notifications.
The investigations into both crashes continue.

The crash occurred northbound between exits 21 and 22, and at least one of the vehicles was a tractor trailer, reports The Journal News.
News 12 Westchester reported two people died, but that has not been confirmed.
