Police: Sound Shore Man Attacks Taxi Driver, Gets Arrested

The man faces several charges, including menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

State police arrested a Rye man for allegedly attacking a taxi driver.

Around 11:24 p.m., police responded to I-87 near Exit 6 in Yonkers because a taxi driver needed help with a customer.

The investigation found the customer was highly intoxicated and had threatened the driver with a knife.

Police also said he struck the driver in the head and had damaged the partition in the taxi.

The man was taken to the Tarrytown barracks and was charged with third-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, misdemeanors, and second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct, violations.

He was released on an appearance ticket to return to the City of Yonkers Court Feb. 2.
