Police Warn About Scary Doorstep 'Find My Phone' Scam
There were at least two reports of a man and woman who came up to homes falsely claiming that their lost phone was inside.

RYE, NY — The City of Rye Police Department has issued a warning about scam artists who are trying to gain access to homes.
Police say there were two reports of a man and woman who came up to a house claiming that their lost phone was inside. The scam artists showed the resident another phone that had the "Find my iPhone" app which showed that the phone was pinging inside the residence.
In both incidents, police said, the pair tried to get inside the home or get the resident to come out.

Police are warning residents to be cautious when answering the door and to be extra vigilant of anyone attempting to get inside their home.
Police are encouraging anyone who has been approached with this similar story to call police by dialing 911 or by calling the non-emergency number at 914-967-1234.
