Pool At Playland Will Be Renovated, Not Replaced

A proposal to turn it into a dining area was turned down.

RYE, NY — Looks like the Playland pool will be spared thanks to a $9.6 million plan to renovate it was agreed to by Westchester legislators. The pool, which is located on the boardwalk of the county-owned amusement park, was slated to be demolished and filled in to create a beach-front dining plaza.

That plan was opposed from the beginning by Legislature Vice Chairman Jim Maisano, R-New Rochelle, who swam in the pool as a child, lohud.com said.

Legislator Catherine Parker, D-Rye, said removing the pool would disadvantage lower-income residents and children who don’t have any other swimming options.
