Possible Luring Incident, Lewdness Being Investigated in Rye

Two girls saw a man in a car touching himself inappropriately.

RYE, NY — An incident of lewdness in front of two teenage girls Monday is being investigated in Rye.

Police said the two 13-year-olds reported that around 4 p.m. a white car, believed to be a Honda sedan, pulled up to them at the intersection of Cowles Avenue and Intervale Place.

As the girls turned the corner from Intervale to Cowles, the driver, who was stopped at the sign, asked for directions to US1.

At first they didn’t notice anything at first, but then the girls realized the driver was masturbating.

The children immediately ran north on Cowles away from the car, and the suspect turned left onto Intervale and fled in an unknown direction.

He was described as a white male in his mid- to late-20s with short dark hair that might have a red tint to it. He also had a five o’clock shadow.

The man wore a short-sleeve T-shirt that appeared to be light blue, and he was wearing jeans.

Both girls said that the suspect that crooked teeth and needed braces.

They also noted that the man spoke clear English with no accent.

His vehicle was described by the girls as dirty with darkened windows and a white spoiler on the rear trunk area. There was also black pin striping on the side.

One of the girls said there was a dark outlining to both the front and rear tail lights and that the car appeared to be “tricked out.”
