Q Dogs Win Season Finale

The Q Dogs beat the Foul Balls Tuesday.

After losing a 6-0 lead in the top of the fourth, the Q Dogs scored nine runs between the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to eventually win 17-11 Tuesday at Port Chester Middle School.

The Foul Balls were a tough adversary for the Q Dogs. A Sal Lagonia triple scored Glen Dinunzio for the 6-6 tie until a Jack Welde single brought in Lagonia, putting the Foul Balls ahead by one run, 7-6.

Q Dog Adam Berman's run then tied it again at 7-7, before his team eventually took control of the game at 8-7 in the bottom of the fourth. Steve Erenfryd then put the Q Dogs further ahead 9-7.

The Foul Balls cut the lead to 9-8 before the Q Dogs nine runs between the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings led to the eventual 17-11 victory, despite three runs from the Foul Balls in the top of the seventh.

The Foul Ball's Raf Labourdette said his team struggled on both offense and defense.

"We just didn't score when it counted," Labourdette said.

Q Dog coach and pitcher Jamie Schutzer was pleased with his team's victory.

"Down a couple runs we fought back and eventually won the game, he said. "It's a nice win to have into the playoffs."

Schutzer had one strikeout and one walk in seven innings pitched.

Glen Dinunzio had four walks and no strikeouts in seven innings pitched for the Foul Balls.

The Foul Balls finish the season at 1-13, while the Q Dogs improve to 10-4 and move on to the playoffs slated to start Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Port Chester Middle School.
