Rye Brook To Change Sanitation Services

The switch was necessitated because the current provider lost its license to operate in the county.

RYE BROOK, NY — Residents of Rye Brook will be changing sanitation services effective Dec. 2. An email from Mayor Paul Rosenberg said the village will change to CRP Sanitation from Waste Services.

He said the days for garbage, recycling and "green waste" pickup will not change. However, household garbage pickup will change from "rear yard" collection to curbside collection.

Rosenberg said that residents who wish to continue receiving "rear yard" collection can pay CRP Sanitation $30 per month to receive the service. To do so, residents should go to the village website for a link to CRP's signup page or call them directly at 914-592-4129.

In addition, bulk pickup will now change from the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month to weekly on the second garbage collection day of each week.

Rosenberg said Waste Services Inc. had its license revoked as a solid waste hauler in Westchester County for actions that occurred prior to them working in Rye Brook.

The village, he said, was required by the county to change sanitation companies. The current contract with Waste Services would have expired at the end of May 2021.

Rosenberg said the village wasn't happy about getting less sanitation service for a higher cost.

"I can assure you that we looked at all options seeking a cost-effective and efficient sanitation service for our residents," he said. "In the long term, we felt like the option selected is the best one for the residents at this time."
