Rye City Council to Discuss Rock Chipping Moratorium Tonight
The public hearing is about proposed changed to the city's "noise" legislation.

The Rye City Council tonight, Aug. 5, will discuss a moratorium on rock chipping, according to officials.
The proposed language of the moratorium can be viewed by clicking here.
Wednesday’s meeting is scheduled for 7:25 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Rye City Hall. The discussion on the rock chipping is a continuation of a public hearing on the city’s “noise” regulations, particularly as it pertains to ”mechanical rock removal.”

A citizen’s group, called the Build a Better Rye Coalition, is urging fellow residents to attend tonight’s meeting to maintain a 30-day limit on the practice.
“ We have been told the builders are planning on coming out in force and asking for multiples of the proposed 30 calendar day limit!” the group wrote on its Facebook page. ”We need as many residents at the meeting as possible. The City Council members need to understand that the residents they serve want a 30 day limit!”
