The new school year begins in less than a month. Here are dates you need to know.
You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2016-17 year in the Rye City schools.
- Labor Day (school closed): Sept. 5
- Superintendent's Conference Day: Sept. 6
- First day of school: Sept. 7
- Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Oct. 3-4
- Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 10
- Superintendent's Conference Day: Oct. 11
- Yom Kippur (school closed): Oct 12
- Election Day, Superintendent’s Conference Day: Nov. 8
- Veterans Day (school closed): 11
- Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 24-25 (early dismissal Nov. 23)
- Holiday recess: Dec. 23-30 (early dismissal Dec. 22, school resumes Jan. 3)
- Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan 16
- Presidents Day/ winter recess: Feb. 20-24
- Spring recess: April 10-14
- Memorial Day weekend (school closed): May 29
- High school graduation: June 17
- Final day of school: June 22
