Rye Police, School District Probe Rumored Middle School Gun Incident: News Reports

A report of a Rye Middle School student bringing a gun to school on Friday is under investigation by police and school officials, according to WCBS-TV and media reports.

School officials learned of the alleged incident Monday and called authorities. No injuries were reported and supposedly no students were threatened, according to WCBS-TV.

The gun, if it was brought to school, reportedly was in a backpack and did not leave the bag.

“It was reported to the middle school principal that a student had a weapon in a backpack which other students may have observed,” said schools Superintendent Frank Alvarez in a statement, as quoted by The Journal News.
