Rye Resident's Lincoln Collection Sells At Auction
One of the items that sold was a painting of Lincoln before he grew a beard.

RYE, NY — An auction of a Rye resident's Abraham Lincoln collection netted nearly $300,000 Sept. 27. Swann Auction Galleries said almost 90 percent of Harold Holzer's collection sold at auction in Manhattan.
Holzer, a Rye resident, had an 1860 painting of Lincoln without a beard that drew $40,000, which was the highest price of all the items that were sold, the Journal News said.
Holzer is the director of Hunter College's Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute.
