Rye Sues Insurance Company over Golf Club Theft Claim

The city is seeking payment in connection with the fraud case involving former Rye Golf Club manager Scott Yandrasevich.

The City of Rye is suing Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America for nearly $2 million because the insurer has yet to pay a claim in connection with the fraud case involving former Rye Golf Club manager Scott Yandrasevich.

Rye officials put in the claim in late 2012, but Travelers has yet to pay it, even though the insurance company has not denied it, writes The Journal News.

Yandrasevich pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny and Falsifying Records charges in November 2014. He was accused of stealing nearly $350,000, and agreed to pay back $270,000 as part of the guilty plea, according to prosecutors. He is scheduled to be sentenced this year.

“This is not something we wanted to do, but it’s something we have to do,” Rye Mayor Joe Sack told The Journal News about the lawsuit. “Quite frankly, [Travelers Casualty has not] even given us the courtesy of a rejection letter.”
