Connected Automotive Technology Provider Leads Police To Stolen Car
RBPD found the car and made arrests after a tip off to the Infiniti QX60's location by SiriusXM Connected Vehicle Services.
RYE BROOK, NY — An unheralded benefit of subscribing to connected vehicle services helped foil a luxury car theft, according to Rye Brook PD.
On Sunday, shortly after 2 a.m., Rye Brook police said they were alerted by SiriusXM Connected Vehicle that a car reported stolen earlier was on Holly Lane in the village. The Infiniti QX60 was not moving and police soon located the car, with three suspects inside. Police say the car had been stolen from Stamford a day earlier.

"Many thanks to Port Chester PD who responded to the scene that night to back up our officers," police wrote on social media on Monday morning. "On Sunday morning a second car was reported stolen from a driveway on Holly Lane, an unfortunate reminder to lock your cars and to not leave valuables including the key fob in the car."

Having satellite radio doesn't necessarily mean that police will be led to your car in the event you fall victim to car thieves. The stolen vehicle location service is only available on vehicles equipped with SiriusXM Connected Vehicle Services, such as Infiniti InTouch or SiriusXM Guardian services.
This article was updated to better clarify the type of technology used to help track the stolen car and to distinguish SiriusXM Connected Vehicles Services Inc. from SiriusXM satellite and streaming audio, which are both subsidiaries of Sirius XM Holdings Inc.
