Toy Thief Cleans Out Christmas Donation Box in Rye
The community responded by donating more toys to the cause.
RYE, NY — Someone tried to steal Christmas spirit by swiping more than a dozen toys from a donation box outside the William Raveis real estate office in Rye.
However, the community responded by donating about 40 new toys, and someone anonymously said they will replace the ones that were taken, the Journal News said.
The toys were being collected for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.

The donation box was outside during the day Tuesday and the theft was discovered when staff were going to bring it inside for the night.

William Raveis’ office is on Purchase Street which has a lot of foot traffic and is also populated with eateries, stores and banks.

Broker Marilyn Hoffman told NBCNewYork.com that she wasn’t seeking to prosecute whoever stole the toys.
Citing the Christmas season, she said she hoped the thief was “someone truly in need.”
