On Sunday, May 25th, Chef Maria Reina, well-known from Small Bites and more, will be at Rye's Down to Earth Farmers Market to cook up quick and easy recipes with local, seasonal produce from the market. She's planning to showcase her Ramp Pesto, as well as Pickled Vegetables, using a delicious recipe she's adapted from Saveur Magazine. Read all about it here, but we warn you, you WILL get hungry!
Also at the farmers market this Sunday, we'll host two new "day vendors." Day vendors are people who sell at the market on special occasion, so it's a unique opportunity to explore what they have to offer. Help us welcome Lulu's Southern Pies and Sisters Wicked Good Soap.
For both of these local entrepreneurs, Rye will be their first market with Down to Earth Markets. They couldn't get a better start than with the Rye community!
The Rye Farmers Market is open every Sunday, 8:30 am to 2:00 pm, from now through December 7th, 2014. It's located in the parking lot behind the Purchase Street stores.
Every week, local farmers and food makers bring fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables; pasture-raised meats, chicken, and eggs; breads and baked goods; pickles; pies; prepared foods to go, and MORE.
Also, in 2014, we're excited to have two vendors join the Rye market for the whole season: Karl Family Farms and Taiim Falafel Shack.
And lastly, if your day needs a little more charm, we highly recommend this video of Farmer Kris Karl talking about (and with!) his pigs. ENJOY. Thank you for coming out to Rye's Down to Earth Farmers Market this Sunday!
