Two Workers Rescued From Trench Collapse in Rye
The extent of the workers' injuries is not known at this time.
First responders from Rye and neighboring towns came to the rescue of two workers trapped in a trench Thursday morning, CBS News New York reports. Emergency responders rescued the workers Thursday morning after a trench collapsed around 11:30 a.m., pinning them against the foundation of a home on Bradford Avenue in Rye.
According to the news report, the two workers were trapped in tons of dirt after the walls of the trench gave way. According to Rye Fire Lt. Kurt Tietjen, the workers were buried chest-deep in the 7-foot hole.
WCBS 880 News’ Paul Murnane reported that the workers were fixing leaks in the foundation of the home when the trench collapsed.
