Use of Cleaner Heating Oil Proposed by County Legislator

Catherine Parker, D-Rye, wants to lessen the incidents of air-pollution-caused diseases by phasing out certain types of heating oil.

A Westchester County legislator has sponsored a bill to restrict the kinds of oil that can be used for heating.

The Regional Clean Air Act, which Legislator Catherine Parker, D-Rye, would phase out the use of oil grades No. 4 and No. 6 in stationary installation uses, according to a post on myrye.com.

Parker said the use of those types of oils increases asthma and heart and lung disease.
