Webster Bank in Rye Robbed Thursday: News Reports

The Webster Bank on Purchase Street in Rye was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash Thursday, but police said the dye packs inside the satchel exploded as the thief was trying to escape, according to Westchester News 12.

The robbery occurred at about 3 p.m. and no weapon was displayed, writes reporter Michael Risinit of The Journal News.

Police told The Journal News the thief escaped but without the money. He was described as a black male with dreadlocks, and he may have been spotted later in the day in the Playland parking lot changing clothes and scrubbing his arms.
