What's Under Your Lawn? Rye Healthy Yard Program Kicks Off at Wainwright House, Feb 10th

Max Apton, formerly of Stone Barns, to give tips on how to grow healthy soil to naturally support a beautiful garden

To kick-off its new speaker series, the Rye Healthy Yard Program will present “What’s Under Your Lawn? The Secret of Healthy Soil” at Wainwright House, 260 Stuyvesant Avenue in Rye on Wednesday, February 10th from 10 to 11 a.m. The program of practical tips and latest scientific information will feature Max Apton, founder of The Farmer’s Garden and former field manager at Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture. Taro Ietaka of Rye Nature Center will moderate the discussion, which will focus on natural and organic strategies for lawn and garden care.

The free event is co-sponsored by the City of Rye Sustainability Committee and the Rye Nature Center. The City of Rye Sustainability Program launched the Rye Healthy Yard Program in 2015 specifically to promote awareness about the health and environmental benefits of using natural landscaping practices in a coastal community.
