Your Grill Wants This Hamburger Recipe

Rye Farmers Market is OPEN Sunday, 7/5 from 8:30am-2pm. Find fresh summer foods, including produce, fish, meat, breads, pies, & more.

Happy July 4th weekend, everyone! The Rye Farmers Market will be open this Sunday, July 5th for all your outdoor grilling wants and needs. The market meets every Sunday on Theodore Fremd Avenue, in the parking lot behind the Purchase Street stores.

New in 2015: The market has added a wonderful fish vendor: Joseph Fisheries! Be sure to stop by and meet Michael Sr. and Eileen Decker, the parents of Michael Jr. As a child, their son was a fishing prodigy if ever there was one -- have them tell you a story about him while you shop for fresh sea scallops, clams, mussels, along with a great variety of fish. Michael Jr. still spends his days at sea, and now he’s teaching his 4-year old boys how to go clamming. The family tradition of fishing continues to thrive...

Also, Down to Earth Markets keeps an online Recipe Box, as well as an inspiring collection of free recipes at the Rye Farmers Market to enjoy at home. In the name of enjoyment, we want to share a summer recipe that gets all grills fired up. It’s from Brookside Farm, a vendor in our program, and it’s the been voted the #1 Hamburger Recipe in the World by the authors of this article. If you’re suspicious of hyperbole on this matter, please just try it. You’ll see that we’re talking straight facts here. In Rye, it’s perfect when made with grass-fed beef from Karl Family Farms. Happy 4th!
