11-Year-Old Made Terroristic Threat Toward LI Middle School: Cops

BREAKING: The 11-year-old boy said he had a bomb and a gun in his backpack and that he was going to do a school shooting, police say.

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY – An 11-year-old Long Island boy was arrested after he made a terroristic threat while on the bus heading to his middle school school Friday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, two students reported to officials from Samoset Middle School, located at 51 School St. in Lake Ronkonkoma, that while on the bus ride to school, an 11-year-old student stated that he had a bomb and a gun in his backpack and that he was going to do a school shooting.

Officials at the school located in the Sachem School District contacted police after the boy admitted he made the threatening statements, police said. The student’s backpack and locker were searched and no threats were found.

Fourth Squad detectives charged the 11-year-old, who is from Ronkonkoma, with making a terroristic threat. Police did not release his name. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Family Court in Central Islip at a future date.
