2 Arrested, 4 Spas Closed In Quality-Of-Life Crackdown: Suffolk PD

Police and Brookhaven Town officials conducted a raid of the businesses on Friday afternoon after residents' complaints.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Two women were arrested on a felony charge of unauthorized practice of a profession during a series of raids on massage parlors — prompted by complaints about quality-of-life and prostitution — in Selden, Centereach, and Coram on Friday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

Over 50 summonses were issued to four businesses for various code violations and they were shut down, according to police.

The raids were coordinated with the 6th Precinct's crime section officers and its detective squad, along with Brookhaven Town investigators, as well as the building inspector and fire marshal's office, police said.

The following establishments were investigated in the raids:

  • The J & L Spa, 600 East Middle Country Rd., Selden
  • No Name, 3663 Route 112, Coram
  • Foot Relaxing Station, 1070 Middle Country Rd., Selden
  • Natural Spa, 2373 Middle Country Rd., Centereach

The two women were held at the 4th Precinct in Smithtown and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
