Ambiance at Home with JLC Landscaping

Landscaping and lighting company makes strides against the economic downfall.

From garden consulting to outdoor kitchens and waterfalls, Joseph Cerbone, owner of JLC Landscaping in Farmingville, has your summer stayscape covered.

Cerbone, 38, from Holbrook, has been in love with landscaping since mowing lawns at the age of 12.

" I developed an interest because it was very quickly self rewarding; working outside, getting tan, making money, seeing people smile," he said.

Due to the economy, more and more people are opting to stay home and renovate their back yards into an outdoor paradise, or stay home vacation.  Some choose to landscape piece-by-piece each year. Backyard additions include fire pits, seating walls, walkways, koi ponds and pond-less waterfalls featuring a recalculating water system.

"It's all about creating a mood," explains Cerbone about the recent interest in landscaping. Using computer assisted drawing, or CAD, and hand drawn landscape designs, JLC is able to customize the design to fit to the customers' specific visual interests.

The ambiance expands to outdoor lighting, creating a nighttime display of your landscape and prolonging hours of enjoyment. An extension of JLC Landscaping, Nights Décor, installs lighting in and around the landscaping design.

A true community member, JLC landscaping has donated a tree to a hospice facility and planted a tree for Arbor Day in Holtsville and Oyster Bay. More recently JLC is looking to work with Bissett Nursery and Aquascape, a water gardening company, on a green harvest system reusing the rainwater at Sachem High School North.

Since mowing the neighbors' lawn in high school, Cerbone moved on to the State University of New York at Cobleskill earning a degree in plant sciences, and on again to Dowling College for an MBA in total quality management.  Cerbone started DBA in 1995 and became incorporated in 2001.

JLC Landscaping has expanded to include Night Time Décor and Christmas Décor, outdoor holiday lighting instillations, as well as full service masonry, pool designs, perennial and container gardening, fire pit and golf course instillation and much more.  For more information, call 631-846-6755, e-mail jcerbone@jlclandscapeservices.com.
