Baskin-Robbins Hits Homer with Nationwide Mini Baseball Helmet Cup Promotion

Three Sachem ice cream shops dish out different cup caps.

Few things in life allow you to remain a kid or at least bring that mindset into a business and leave fulfilled after your task is complete.

With Baskin-Robbins' Major League Baseball mini-helmet promotion this summer, the corporation offers children and adults the anticipation of getting an unknown team every time you order a cup of ice cream.

Sponsored by Aquafina, which allows everyone to receive a free 20 oz. bottle of water with each purchase, the promotion offers everyone the opportunity to get one of 30 helmets for $4.99 a pop.

My first stop was at the Baskin-Robbins located on Portion Road in Farmingville, across from Ralph's Italian Ices. Without asking, the gentleman behind the counter offered my brother and I Mets and Yankees helmets. We played conservatively and had vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles.

The following week we hit up the shop on Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma. This time the helmets were displayed on the counter and the young lady behind the counter offered us the opportunity to pick which teams we'd like. A Cal Ripken Jr. nut since birth, I chose the Orioles and not necessarily a fan, but more or less a respect factor lied in my brother's decision to pick the Red Sox. We went with peanut butter ice cream this time if you're wondering.

Lastly, this past Sunday we went to the final Sachem area Baskin-Robbins on Furrows Road in Holbrook across from Mamma Lombardi's. I specified to the store worker that I did not want the Mets or Yankees and when he returned from the back with the Dodgers and Braves I was content. As long as it wasn't the Phillies anything worked for me at that point.

Quite fittingly, we tried the new Baseball Nut flavor, which was the June Flavor of the Month, a smooth, vanilla flavored ice cream swirled with a black raspberry ribbon and loaded with cashews.

"Summertime is all about ice cream and baseball," said Srinivas Kumar, Chief Brand Officer for Baskin-Robbins Worldwide.  "Together with Aquafina we hope to offer ice cream fans around the country a fun way to enjoy America's favorite pastime with an opportunity to cool down while the baseball season heats up."

You can select from many sundae options and with a two-scoop max, this leaves room for plenty of toppings from whipped cream to nuts, cherries and everything in between.

There aren't more American pastimes then baseball and ice cream and to combine the two makes this one special treat for people of all ages. Head down there and recapture your childhood.
