An Alumna's Solution to Budget Cuts

Sachem graduates have and continue to have a significant global impact on all levels of education and government.

Sachem alumna Mary Trapani Hynes graduated from Sachem High School in 1961, and continued her education at Harpur College (SUNY), in New York. Hynes has for years been working as a teacher in Toronto Canada.

On Thursday,July 28, 2011 Hynes, spoke at the Mayor's Executive Committee forum, in an effort to stop budget cuts to the Toronto Public Library, and transportation systems. She skillfully used a unique combination of reverse psychology and sarcasm, which had a dramatic impact on the outcome of that meeting.
