Inside the Huddle: Half-Way Through Summer Workouts
Sachem East football summer workout is half way completed and so far, so good, but there is still a lot of time left before the season and a lot of hard work still to be done.

This past Wednesday marked the half-way point of the Sachem East football summer workout program. So far this summer has been very successful, and as a program I feel that we are improving each and every day.
Every week the first four days of the week consist of two days of speed and agility, and two days of fundamental training, both topped off with a two-hour lifting period. On Fridays we have competition either against another team in 7 vs. 7 scrimmages, or against each other in flag football games.
I have been around this program for three years now and I have never been around an off-season more physically and mentally challenging as the off-season that our coaching staff has put together for us this season.

Saying that, I have also never been around a group of harder working guys that are willing to step up to the challenge and bring their best effort day in and day out.
Some of these speed and conditioning workouts that we have been put through in the past few weeks are some of the most intense, grueling workouts I have ever endured. I remember a few times after speed and agility just thinking to myself that there is no way some of these younger guys are going to have the work ethic and desire to come back at 6:50 in the morning the next day and be ready to do this all over again.

Time and time again I am proved wrong as everyone from all different ages, middle school to seniors, are showing up every day and maxing out their potential.
The turnout of guys every morning is phenomenal. There are a lot more people showing up every day than in years past, and I think that has a lot to do with the senior leadership that we have on this team. The seniors have really grasped a good hold on this team and are making sure that everyone is pushing themselves to get better at all times.
Up to this point of the summer a very positive and enthusiastic attitude has been set by the seniors and has trickled down to all levels of the program. As of right now the entire atmosphere around this locker room couldn’t be better or any more positive than it is, but again it's still early. This could change at any second, and that is the exact reason why we will only be pushing ourselves harder and harder in each of the upcoming weeks and all through the season to keep this attitude and mindset rolling all the way throughout.
