Inside The Huddle of Sachem East Football: Summer Football

A description of the feeling inside of the Sachem East football locker room a day before two a days begin.

School is three weeks away but for us football players our summer ends today. This is one of the many sacrifices we all make in order to be a football player.

We have all come a very long way this summer, and we have put in countless hours in the weight room, at Steel Fitness, and on the field. Every day, from 6:50-11:00 a.m. while most of our friends are sleeping in and using their summer to relax, we have been up at school training, on the field and in the weight room.

Friday nights when our friends are going out, you can find us training at Steel Fitness flipping tires. All these sacrifice’s and all this work for only eight games and the opportunity is to make the season last more than just eight games.

Is all of this really worth it? If you ask anyone on this team that question, without any hesitation the answer is yes. We have dedicated our entire summer to this, we live for this and now the season is that much closer and the feeling is like no other.

It is going to be a long road ahead and the next few weeks will be both physically and mentally grueling. We all know that and have been using the last three days that we have had off to mentally prepare ourselves and rest our bodies for the upcoming two-a-days and training camp.

It is our last day of summer and as a team we are enjoying the final hours of our summer together at Buffalo Wild Wings. The season really is right around the corner and the feeling we all have right now consists of excitement and anxiety to finally get back to football.
